Cardinals, finches, nuthatches, and chickadees love safflower — and most squirrels and blackbirds won't touch it.

Safflower Bird Seed — 20 LB by Cole's Wild Bird Products

This special white seed is a favorite of cardinals, finches, nuthatches, and chickadees. The natural bitterness of safflower deters most squirrels and blackbirds, making it an excellent choice for feeders where pest pressure is a concern.

Birds won’t eat the safflower

I bought a few bags of the safflower The birds pull it out of the feeder and drop it to the ground. Morning doves and squirrels aren’t eating it either
